Hamiltonian Structure of a Frw Universe with Torsion

چکیده
We study a R 2 model of gravity with torsion in a closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. The model is cast in Hamiltonian form subtracting from the original Lagrangian the total time derivative of f K f R , where f K is proportional to the trace of the extrinsic curvature tensor, and f R is obtained differentiating the Lagrangian with respect to the highest derivative. Torsion is found to lead to a primary constraint linear in the momenta and a secondary constraint quadratic in the momenta, and the full field equations are finally worked out in detail. Problems to be studied for further research are the solution of these equations and the quantization of the model. One could then try to study a new class of quantum cosmological models with torsion.

Quantum Effects of an Extra Compact Dimension on the Wave Function of the Universe
We extend the direct quantum approach of the standard FRW cosmology from 4D to 5D and obtain a Hamiltonian formulation for a wave-like 5D FRW cosmology. Using a late-time approximation we isolate out a y-part from the full wave function of the 5D Universe. Then we find that the compactness of the fifth dimension y yields a quantized spectrum for the momentum P5 along the fifth dimension, and we...
متن کاملAccelerating Universe without Bigbang Singularity in Kalb-Ramond Cosmology
Existence of Bigbang singularity is considered to be the most serious drawback in the standard FRW cosmology. Furthermore, to explain the accelerating phase of the Universe (recently detected experimentally) in such a model one needs to include a non-vanishing cosmological constant by hand. In this note we show that a string originated torsion in the background spacetime provides natural soluti...
متن کاملNoether Symmetry in f(T) Theory at the anisotropic universe
As it is well known, symmetry plays a crucial role in the theoretical physics. On other hand, the Noether symmetry is a useful procedure to select models motivated at a fundamental level, and to discover the exact solution to the given lagrangian. In this work, Noether symmetry in f(T) theory on a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type I universe is considered. We discuss the Lagran...

The idea that the universe has zero total energy when one includes the contribution from the gravitational field is reconsidered. A Hamiltonian is proposed as an energy for the exact equations of FRW cosmology: it is then shown that this energy is constant. Thus open and critically open FRW universes have the energy of their asymptotic state of infinite dilution, which is Minkowski space with z...
متن کاملGeneralized Cardassian Expansion: a Model in Which the Universe Is Flat, Matter Dominated, and Accelerating
The Cardassian universe is a proposed modification to the Friedmann Robertson Walker equation (FRW) in which the universe is flat, matter dominated, and accelerating. In this presentation, we generalize the original Cardassian proposal to include additional variants on the FRW equation; specific examples are presented. In the ordinary FRW equation, the right hand side is a linear function of th...
